Amanda Centeno

Amanda Centeno

Amanda Centeno recently joined Ventura Orthopedics Physical Therapy this September as a Physical Therapist Aide.  She interned with us three months last summer and is excited to be a part of the physical therapy team. Amanda played volleyball and softball for Buena High School where she graduated from in 2007. After high school, she took off to the east coast on a softball scholarship to play at Rider University in New Jersey. She graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Her favorite part of her job is assisting the patients and seeing them graduate from their exercise program healthy and ready for their hobbies again. Having a true passion for helping people and for the physical therapy profession, Amanda hopes to become a physical therapist in the near future, and is awaiting replies from six PT schools in March. When she is not working, Amanda loves to play softball, beach volleyball, walk her dogs, and spend time with friends and family.

Steve Edwards

Steve Edwards has been with Ventura Orthopedics Therapy Services since its inception in the fall of 2002. After receiving a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from U.C. Davis, he went on to earn his Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1997 and his Orthopedic Specialist certification in 2009. Steve has worked in several areas of physical therapy. His appreciation for physical therapy is enhanced by his own participation in a number of sports and the satisfaction he derives from working with patients of different ages, helping them meet their individual goals. Steve believes that education is the foundation on which a successful rehabilitation program is built. In the clinic he uses this principle with the high school or college athlete recovering from a shoulder reconstruction as well as the stroke patient relearning how to walk.

Steve has completed a year long manual therapy fellowship, is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist and regularly takes specialty courses in evaluation and treatment of orthopedic injuries. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association's national and California chapter as well as a member of the Orthopedic and Sport Specialty sections of the APTA. Steve lives in Ventura with his wife and three children where they enjoy surfing, hiking, backpacking and snowboarding.

Armando Lara

Armando Lara has been a Physical Therapist Aide in the field of orthopedic and sports rehabilitation since 1988 and joined Ventura Orthopedics in 2007. During this time Armando has gained invaluable hands on knowledge working with many physicians and physical therapists in the county. During this time, he has earned an associate of Arts Degree and attends regular continuing education courses in the field of sports rehabilitation and conditioning.

Armando is a people person and enjoys working with all types of injuries. As an athlete himself he played football in high school, college, and at the semi-professional level in the U.S. and Europe. His own experiences with athletic injuries provide him with a personal understanding of the importance of the individualized care and guidance necessary to support patients in the rehabilitation process. Armando moved down the coast from Santa Barbara to Ventura in 1985 where he currently resides with his wife and daughter. He enjoys bike riding, gym workouts, projects around the house, and family pizza and movie nights.

Matthew McQueary

Matthew joined Ventura Orthopedics in 2005 and works primarily in the Oxnard PT office. Mr. McQueary earned his Master of Physical Therapy degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles in 2001 and his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Athletic Training from CSU Dominguez Hills in 1999. Following graduation Matthew completed a 1 year course in advanced manual therapy and has attended many continuing education courses on various topics of interest. He enjoys many recreational pursuits including ocean kayaking, fishing, surfing, marathon running, camping and plays in a competitive baseball league. Mr. McQueary lives in Ventura with his wife and two children.

Laurel Schwartzkopf

Laurel joined the Physical Therapy team at Ventura Orthopedics in 2010. She received a master’s in physical therapy from Cal State Northridge after getting a BS in Biology from UCSB. Growing up in Mammoth Lakes, she witnessed how integral physical therapy is to returning function and sports after an injury. She is excited to be working with and learning from the Ventura Ortho staff and patients and looks forward to honing her skills as a manual and sports therapist. Outside the clinic, she enjoys surfing, mountain biking, and skiing. She lives in Ventura with her husband.

Adria Tenison

Adria Tenison is a Santa Barbara native and has been with Ventura Orthopedics since 2002. In 1988 she received her Bachelors of science in biopsychology from Mt. St. Mary's College and her Masters of Physical Therapy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific.

Adria has worked in a variety of settings including: neurological rehabilitation, pediatrics, geriatrics, home and community neurological rehabilitation and orthopedics. She currently enjoys working with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation patients to regain their function and assisting them with community resources.

Adria lives in Ventura with her husband and three children. She enjoys exercising, travel, gardening and cooking.

Jeff Venable

Jeff Venable joined Ventura Orthopedics Therapy Services in the fall of 2002. Other than the 7½ years spent in the Marine Corps, Jeff has spent his entire life in Camarillo. He graduated with honors from the Professional Skills Institute in Santa Barbara with an Associate of Science Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Since 1995, Jeff has worked exclusively in the orthopedic setting treating both athletic and industrial injuries. Jeff has specific interest in strength and conditioning, Swiss ball exercises, aquatic therapy, and fitness procedures. Jeff is also a certified job site assessment specialist and an associate member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, Jeff enjoys the team approach to patient care. "The physicians at Ventura Orthopedics are great to work with. Any time I have a concern about a patient's progress or want to make a treatment suggestion, the physicians are always available and want to take the time to talk." When not at work, Jeff can be found working on his golf game, surfing and spending time with his wife and three children.

Susie Yovanno

Susie Yovanno P.T. has worked with Ventura Orthopedics since March 2008. She grew up in the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in sports medicine/exercise science from Old Dominion University. She completed her physical therapy degree at Howard University. She is currently working on her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Western University of Health Sciences. Susie moved to California in 1995. Her area of interest in physical therapy is orthopedics.

Susie Yovanno has specialty training in manual therapy techniques such as muscle energy, counter strain, neural tissue mobilization, and myofascial release. Susie has had training and extensive experience in the use of exercise and home exercise programs for patient rehabilitation.

Susie Yovanno is currently a physical therapist at Ventura Orthopedics Ojai office. Her professional affiliations include the American Physical Therapy Association and the National Charity League.

Susie lives in Oxnard Shores, and is married with two daughters. She enjoys the beach, horseback riding, and travelling.


Simi Valley

Molly Breckley

Recently graduated from CSUN with a master's in physical therapy, Molly completed her last rotation at Ventura Orthopedics in Simi Valley, CA. She began working in the Simi and Ventura locations in August of 2009. In her last year of school she was trained in Pilates and obtained certification as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Molly enjoys working with a wide variety of patients and is excited about her future in this field.

Jessica Kezirian joined the Physical Therapy team in Simi Valley in October 2011. She received her Masters in Physical Therapy from California State University, Northridge in May 2009, as well as her certification as a strength and conditioning specialist. Jessica is also trained in both mat and reformer Pilates. She has a passion for helping people and tries to promote an active lifestyle for her patients. She enjoys working with a variety of patients and her goal is to return them to the activities they love most. Outside of the clinic, Jessica loves spending time outdoors with her husband and puppy.

Jeanine McDonald

Jeanine McDonald graduated from UCSB with honors in 2011 with a Communication degree. After several internships in the communication field she decided to go a different route and began working as a PT aide with Ventura Orthopedics. After only working here for a little more than 3 months, she was convinced that this is the field for her. She enjoys learning about the body and the way it works and loves helping and getting to know all of her patients. She will be returning to school to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist.

Debbie Nadel

Debbie Nadel brings a contemporary approach to her 30 years as a physical therapist. While having owned, managed and consulted PT practices, she remains focused on hands-on, solution-based treatment that is designed to achieve desired outcomes in realistic timeframes. A mother of 2 grown sons, she knows the importance of maintaining an upbeat and positive clinical environment where patients are both challenged and respected.

Rhona Watts

Rhona Watts is a 1995 Associate of Science graduate in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Delaware Technical and Community College. She has focused her training in orthopedic management with an emphasis in sports medicine. Additionally, she has completed coursework in mat Pilates, Physio-ball training, balance rehab, the Mulligan technique and wound care management. Rhona is also certified as a CF-L1 Trainer.


Oxnard

Janelle Matusik

Janelle Matusik joined Ventura Orthopedics Therapy Services in May 2010 and primarily works out of the Oxnard PT office. Janelle is originally from Florida and earned her Bacholers of Science degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University in 2004 before relocating to California to complete her Masters of Physical Therapy from California State University Long Beach in 2009.

Janelle is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist with a passion for sports! Janelle enjoys working with a variety of patient population and strives to work in a positive uplifting environment. She enjoys the field of orthopedics and is very passionate about her job and the people she helps.

In her free time, Janelle enjoys hiking, working out, traveling, spending time with family, and the beach. Janelle and her soon to be husband and two step children currently reside in Ventura. Janelle looks forward to advancing her career and clinical skills here with Ventura Orthopedics.

Melissa Rollenhagen

Melissa recently relocated to Ventura, California from Virginia in May 2010. She graduated from Central Michigan University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. Melissa was born and raised in Michigan but has been moving around due to her husbands career as an aviator in the Navy. Melissa enjoys working with athletes with various injuries. Her goal is to challenge patients and make the experience fun by continually changing up the routine.

She enjoys playing and watching sports including basketball, volleyball, and softball. She is looking forward to advancing her skills and career as a Physical Therapist at Ventura Orthopedics.
