If there is time to spare, you will find him outdoors: hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, cultivating orchids, or tending to his citrus ranch. Biography

Fredrick J. Menninger M.D.

Fredrick (Fritz) Menninger M.D. grew up in La Canada, California. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Arizona, where he was an NCAA middle-distance runner on the varsity track team. He completed his Medical Degree and Orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. During his residency he had the opportunity to work with many of the college and professional sports teams in the Pittsburgh region. A Californian at heart, Dr. Menninger returned to Southern California in 1988 and established an Orthopaedic Surgery practice in Ojai and Ventura.

Dr. Menninger's practice includes general orthopaedics, reconstructive surgery, and sports medicine. Special areas of interest are the surgical treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee disorders. He has extensive training and experience in the arthroscopic management of extremity injuries. As a former collegiate athlete, Dr. Menninger has particular empathy for the needs of the serious as well as the occasional athlete.

Dr. Menninger has specialty training in pediatric orthopaedics and welcomes opportunities to care for children with orthopaedic problems. Since 1995, he has been the Medical Director of the Tri-Counties Easter Seals Society, which manages several rehabilitation programs in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Dr. Menninger is currently Chief of Surgery at Ojai Valley Community Hospital and a member of the active staff at Community Memorial Hospital. He has practice privileges at Ventura County Medical Center, Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, and St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

Dr. Menninger is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is Past President of the Ventura County Medical Society. His professional affiliations include the California Orthopedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, California Medical Association, and the Ventura County Medical Society.
